The Magic of Vernix

Ever wondered what keeps babies skin super soft? How do they not turn into little prunes in all of that amniotic fluid?

Vernix Caseosa is thick, white & naturally occurring biofilm that is unique to humans (apart from baby seals which are also born in a thin layer of vernix). It protects the newborn skin from dehydration and infection as well as supporting temperature and innate immunity.

How clever are our bodies!
